Tata Motors’ JLR sales rise 28% in Sept at 61,047 units
India’s leading automobile manufacturer Tata Motors Ltd on Friday said its wholly owned subsidiary, Jaguar Land Rover, has reported 28 per cent growth in its September retail sales at 61,047 units. In a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange, the company said, “The month’s performance has been driven by strong sales of the Land Rover Discovery, Discovery Sport, the Range Rover Evoque and the Jaguar F-PACE, as well as solid sales in China.”
The company’s Jaguar brand sold 17,640 vehicles in September, up 70 per cent from the year-ago month, reflecting the strong launch of the F-PACE as well as continued solid sales of the XE, the company added. The Land Rover’s sales in September were at 43,407 vehicles, up 17 per cent y-o-y, driven by strong sales of Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque which retailed at 12,838 vehicles and 11,761 vehicles, respectively.
Tata Motors said JLR delivered solid retail sales growth across all key regions y-o-y, with China up 50 per cent, Europe up 32 per cent, the UK up 30 per cent, North America up 23 per cent and other overseas markets up 3 per cent. Meanwhile, shares of the company were trading at Rs 565.70 apiece, up 2.62 per cent, from previous close on BSE at 14:15 hours.
