NSA Ajit Doval inaugurates 2-day `Goa Maritime Conclave`

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval inaugurated two-day ‘Goa Maritime Conclave’ at Sinquerim in North Goa. Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh was also present during the ceremony. The event was attended by Heads of Maritime Agency of Maldives, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia, Seychelles, Mauritius Singapore and Malaysia. ‘Goa Maritime Conclave’ is organised in a bid to foster friendly relations with maritime neighbours.  The focus of the conclave is on capacity building among Indian Ocean Region (IOR) navies to tackle emerging maritime threats, as well as discussing cooperative strategies for enhancing interoperability among partner maritime agencies. While addressing in the ceremony, NSA Doval said, “Seas are going to be the most important area of nations' mutual cooperation, economic development and tackling possible threats. We're all important stakeholders in Indian Ocean Region and Pacific as these two areas are both contentious and also offer great opportunities.”
