Daily Market Update - 17th September 2026 - Ventura Securities Ltd

Market Outlook: Indian markets are likely to open negative, with Gift Nifty declining 0.61% (-141 points), following mixed global cues. US markets ended mixed in the previous session, with the S&P 500 declining 0.44%, Dow Jones falling 1.21%, while Nasdaq 100 gained 0.03%. Domestic markets closed higher in the previous session, with Nifty 50 gaining 0.43% and Sensex rising 0.45%; however, market breadth remained weak with NSE advance-decline at 1,688:1,851 and BSE at 1,930:2,420. Options data indicates Nifty Call OI concentration at 24,000 and Put OI concentration at 23,000, with PCR at 0.96, while Sensex Call OI peaked at 75,000 and Put OI at 71,000 with PCR at 1.13.
 
FII & DII Activity: Institutional activity remained mixed, with FIIs/FPI turning net sellers of Rs 2,032.6 crore on 16th September, while DIIs remained strong buyers with net inflows of Rs 3,908.2 crore. The divergence between foreign and domestic flows continued, with domestic institutional participation providing support to the market despite weak broader market breadth.
 
Sector Activity: Sectoral performance remained mixed during the session. FMCG (+1.63%), PSU Banks (+1.44%), Financial Services (+0.74%), Oil & Gas (+0.70%) and Metals (+0.55%) were among the key outperformers. On the other hand, IT declined 1.58%, while Healthcare (-0.15%) and Pharma (-0.16%) remained under pressure.
 
F&O Activity: Long build-up was witnessed in BLUESTARCO, ALKEM, POLICYBZR, GODREJPROP and BHARATFORG, indicating fresh long positions in these stocks. Short build-up was observed in OFSS, NIFTYFPI, ATHERENERG, NYKAA and COFORGE. Long unwinding was seen in ULTRACEMCO, NAUKRI, BIOCON, TATAPOWER and SUZLON, while short covering was observed in PAYTM, DIXON, MFSL, COLPAL and DLF.

1. Reliance Industries: Reliance allotted 12 lakh unsecured NCDs with a face value of Rs 1 lakh each, raising Rs 12,000 crore. The five-year debentures carry a 7.47% annual coupon and mature on 16th September 2031, with CRISIL AAA/Stable rating.
 
2. Juniper Hotels: Juniper Hotels approved acquisition of the operational Novotel Imagicaa hotel from Imagicaaworld for Rs 248 crore in cash. The property includes 287 rooms across approximately 11 acres in Khopoli, valued at around Rs 86 lakh per room.
 
3. Neogen Chemicals: Neogen completed its QIP by allotting 26,60,753 equity shares at Rs 2,255 per share, raising approximately Rs 600 crore. The issue price was around 2% below the stock’s 16th September closing price.
 
4. ACME Solar Holdings: ACME commissioned 66.68 MW of solar capacity and 300 MWh of battery storage capacity in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The project is part of a 300 MW solar-plus-100 MW wind hybrid project supplying NTPC, increasing operational renewable capacity to approximately 3,057 MW.
 
5. Saatvik Green Energy: Saatvik Green Energy received a Rs 1,041.63 crore order from Solar Energy Corporation of India for 600 MWp solar modules. The order includes manufacturing, testing, packing, supply and transportation of modules using domestically manufactured solar cells, with execution scheduled by December 2027
