Daily Market Update - 8th September 2026 - Ventura Securities Ltd

Market Outlook: Indian markets are likely to open on a cautious note, with Gift Nifty declining 0.12%, following mixed global cues. US markets remained closed on 7th September 2026 due to the Labor Day holiday; hence, the previous trading session data has been considered. The S&P 500 declined by 29.1 pts (-0.38%), Dow Jones fell by 271.9 pts (-0.51%), while Nasdaq 100 gained 61.8 pts (+0.21%). Domestic markets witnessed selling pressure, with Nifty 50 declining 0.57% to 23,779, while market breadth remained weak with NSE advances at 1,507 against 2,083 declines and BSE advances at 1,925 against 4,745 declines. India VIX increased 3.77% to 11, indicating a rise in near-term volatility. Options data indicates Nifty Call OI concentration at 24,000 and Put OI concentration at 23,500, with PCR at 0.68.

 

FII & DII Activity: Institutional activity remained positive, with FIIs/FPI turning net buyers of Rs280.1 crore, with gross purchases of Rs9,581.2 crore and sales of Rs9,301.1 crore. DIIs continued their buying momentum, recording net inflows of Rs566.8 crore, with gross purchases of Rs13,154.1 crore and sales of Rs12,587.4 crore. The continued domestic institutional participation provided support amid broader market weakness.

 

Sector Activity: Sectoral performance remained mixed, with Pharma (+0.75%), Healthcare (+0.68%) and Energy (+7.50% YTD) showing resilience, while IT emerged as the key laggard, declining 2.32%. PSU Banks (-1.06%), Metals (-1.24%), FMCG (-0.66%), Oil & Gas (-0.61%) and Financial Services (-0.47%) also remained under pressure. Auto (-0.04%), Consumer Durables (-0.42%) and Capital Goods-related sectors witnessed marginal declines.

 

F&O Activity: Long build-up was witnessed in ATHERENERG, NAM-INDIA, SOLARINDS, COALINDIA and BANDHANBNK, indicating fresh buying interest. Short build-up was observed in ICICIPRULI, WIPRO, VMM, MAHABANK and HAVELLS. Long unwinding was seen in GRASIM, MFSL, SBILIFE, OIL and SUNPHARMA, whereas short covering emerged in MOTILALOFS, FORCEMOT, MCX, EICHERMOT and SBICARD.

Power Grid Corporation / GE Vernova: GE Vernova emerged as the L1 bidder for Power Grid’s 6,000 MW ±800 kV HVDC terminal-station project connecting Barmer II with South Kalamb. The project involves design, supply and execution of two 3,000 MW converter terminals for renewable power evacuation.
VA Tech Wabag:

The company secured a repeat order from Reliance Industries for an effluent treatment plant at the Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex, Jamnagar. The order falls under the Rs100–250 crore category and includes design, equipment supply, erection and commissioning of treatment systems.
Anupam Rasayan: The company approved subscription to 2,60,065 shares of Tanfac Industries at Rs2,341 per share for Rs60.88 crore. The preferential subscription aims to increase Anupam Rasayan’s holding after dilution caused by Tanfac’s QIP issuance.
