“Indian equities are ending September on a cautious note as the initial relief from softer crude is being offset by elevated global yields, persistent FII selling and currency pressure. The rupee remains near Rs 95.97 against the dollar, while Brent crude is around $103 a barrel and India’s 10-year bond yield is near 7.15%; the US 10-year yield remains elevated around 5.2%. The key concern is that these pressures are interconnected—expensive oil can sustain inflation, keep yields higher and limit foreign flows into emerging markets. For October, investors should focus less on short-term index volatility and more on earnings visibility, domestic liquidity and sectors with stronger pricing power, while closely monitoring crude, the rupee and global rate expectations.”
