“September was a month of heightened volatility for Indian equities, with the Nifty and Sensex correcting around 6% as elevated crude oil prices, rising global bond yields and persistent FII selling weighed on sentiment. Brent crude briefly moved above $100 a barrel, raising concerns around inflation. At the same time, India’s strong economic growth and resilient domestic liquidity provided some support to the broader market.
After the sharp rally seen across small- and mid-cap stocks over the preceding period, valuations and risk-reward have become more important. In the near term, we expect volatility to remain elevated, particularly if crude stays at these levels and inflationary pressures broaden. In this environment, maintaining a hedge through some allocation to cash or gold can be useful, while equity exposure should remain focused on selective businesses with strong earnings visibility and reasonable valuations rather than taking broad-based bets.
Request to consider the same.”
