“Aligning portfolio should be more from a perspective of the overall asset allocation within the equity basket of the investor. If the exposure to smallcaps is high then the investor can stop SIP in small cap and start in a Flexicap or large cap fund. The investor should not rebalance the portfolio just to change from small cap to large cap. He should first look a the taxation impact and the time horizon of his investment before making redemptions and shifting. It would be a better idea to align by stopping his SIP as there is no implication on tax.”
