Rupee strengthens against US dollar in early trade on Thursday

The Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday, led by firm equities and fresh foreign fund inflows into the Indian capital market. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) bought equities worth Rs 2,991.64 crore, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) purchased shares worth Rs 5,118.57 crore, on Wednesday exchange data showed. Besides, the US dollar remained under pressure amid ongoing uncertainty regarding US tariff policies and talks between US and Iran. However, rising global crude oil prices has limited further gains in the domestic currency.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 90.86, stronger by 5 paise from its previous close of 90.91 on Wednesday. The currency touched a high and low of 90.8875 and 90.81 respectively.
